Who Is Hotori?
Hotori is a Cosmos-element S-Rank character in Neverness to Everness and a member of the Eibon Antique Shop faction. Her banner runs from May 13 to June 3, 2026, making her the third limited S-Rank character to appear in NTE's version 1.0. Hotori is an Ultimate-focused damage dealer who builds power through repeated Redirect and Support Skill casts before detonating with her Ultimate for large burst windows.
Hotori Skills Overview
Hotori — Cosmos S-Rank Burst DPS
Hotori's kit revolves almost entirely around her Ultimate. Her kit creates a simple but rewarding loop: cast Redirect and Support Skills to build stacks, then fire the Ultimate to detonate. The more redirect and support actions you land before pressing the Ultimate, the higher the burst multiplier. Her Skill Priority is: Ultimate = Support Skill > Basic Attack > Skill.
- Basic Attack — Standard Cosmos attacks. Used primarily to maintain Esper Cycle flow between rotation windows.
- Skill — Hotori's Skill provides damage and minor generation but is the lowest priority in her rotation. Do not over-invest in this.
- Support Skill — High priority. Each cast of the Support Skill before her Ultimate contributes to the DEF Ignore bonus, directly scaling her burst damage.
- Ultimate — Hotori's core damage output. To unlock the full DEF Ignore bonus, execute three redirect or Support Skill casts before activating the Ultimate. Meeting this threshold significantly increases the final burst hit.
Best Arcs for Hotori
Marching Beyond Time — Best Overall Arc
Hotori's strongest Arc, built around maximising her Ultimate damage. This Arc rewards the player for properly preparing the rotation: use three redirect or support skills before casting the Ultimate to unlock the full DEF Ignore bonus. When executed correctly, this setup results in dramatically higher burst damage compared to any alternative. If you plan to use Hotori as your primary DPS, Marching Beyond Time is a clear first choice and worth investing heavily in from the start.
Fluff of Fearlessness — Strong Alternative
A solid S-Rank alternative Arc that increases ATK after Hotori uses her Ultimate while simultaneously granting a CRIT Rate bonus. This Arc improves both the initial burst hit and the short damage continuation window that follows, making the entire Ultimate window hit harder overall. A strong option if Marching Beyond Time is not yet available or not fully upgraded.
The Forgotten — Best A-Rank Option
Hotori's only reliable A-Rank Arc choice. It offers a steady ATK boost as long as Hotori remains above 50% HP. While it lacks the conditional explosive effects of the S-Rank options, The Forgotten provides consistent and stable damage output with no complex activation requirements. Recommended for players who cannot yet access the S-Rank Arcs.
How to Play Hotori: Rotation Guide
Hotori's rotation is straightforward once you understand the Ultimate preparation requirement. The core loop is:
- Enter combat and build initial Esper Cycle meter with Basic Attacks.
- Cast the Support Skill once to begin the pre-Ultimate stack accumulation.
- Swap to supports/buffers to apply team buffs and elemental lane setups.
- Return to Hotori and cast the Support Skill two more times (three total).
- Activate Ultimate immediately to receive the full DEF Ignore bonus and maximum burst damage.
- Continue Basic Attacks and Skill casts in the post-Ultimate window while the bonus persists.
- Repeat from step 2 for the next burst cycle.
The key mistake to avoid: pressing the Ultimate before completing all three redirect or Support Skill casts wastes the DEF Ignore multiplier entirely. Patience before the Ultimate press is the single biggest damage difference between optimal and suboptimal Hotori play.
Best Team Compositions for Hotori
Nanally · Hotori · Adler · Edgar — Premium Burst Team
This is Hotori's highest-performing lineup in the current meta. Nanally applies the Cosmos element alongside Hotori, keeping the elemental lane clean and generating Anima follow-ups from her Underboss summon between Hotori's Ultimate windows. Adler provides team-wide DEF Ignore through his Incantation DoT stacks and shields the team, allowing Hotori to stay aggressive. Edgar covers healing so no survivability trade-offs are necessary. This team runs extremely smoothly and covers all three pillars: damage, defence, and healing.
Hotori · Fadia · Haniel · Edgar — F2P-Friendly
A more accessible version that substitutes Nanally for Fadia and drops Adler. Fadia redirects incoming damage and charges the Esper Cycle quickly during quickswap rotations, keeping Hotori safe during her setup phase. Haniel provides team damage amplification passively. Edgar sustains the team. Not quite as explosive as the premium team but entirely viable through all normal content and most weekly challenges.
Should You Pull Hotori?
Hotori is a strong S-Rank DPS with a clear, rewarding rotation and one of the best-in-slot Arcs in version 1.0. If you are missing a primary Cosmos-element carry — and especially if you already have Nanally or Adler for team synergy — she is worth pulling. Her Ultimate-focused playstyle has a low mechanical ceiling: the rotation is simple enough for new players while still rewarding experienced ones who optimise the pre-Ultimate window precisely.
If you are satisfied with your current DPS roster (particularly if you already have Skia, Baicang, or Chiz at high investment), Hotori is not mandatory. She does not introduce a new reaction or fundamentally change the meta — she executes the Cosmos burst style more powerfully than her A-Rank peers.
Verdict: Pull if you need a Cosmos DPS or have Nanally. Skip if your current DPS roster is already solid and you are saving for a future banner.
